The warm welcome on arrival. The smart spacious well decorated room with good facilities. The very good breakfasts were served with an accomadating smile and frendliness. Overall highly recommended!
View from the room of Arthur's Seat (at the rear of the hotel) was spectacular. Room facilities excellent with safe, free wi-fi, ipod dock and LCD TV & DVD player. Rooms were immaculately kept with a comfortable, firm bed and ensuite shower room. Staff very friendly and most helpful whatever the query. Free unrestricted parking very close to the hotel. Good location - 15-20 mins walk to the Royal Mile and on bus route with stop right across the road. Would recommend to anyone and would definitely stay here again.
David & Margaret made us feel very welcome throughout our stay. We had booked a double room and found on arrival that there was a double bed and a single bed which was ideal for our toddler as were just going to use her travel cot. The breakfast was superb, everything you could want. They even had a booster seat fitted to a dining chair for our daughter. Thank you for making our stay enjoyable, we definately would consider staying at Gifford House again.
Everything was perfect - the owners, the room, the food! It is a great place to stay in Edinburgh.
The house itself was beautifully presented and absolutely spotlessly clean and tidy; and the welcome was warm without being overbearing. The breakfast was brilliant, the room was perfect and the bed was wonderfully comfortable. I could not fault anything, especially in terms of value for money. The standard being set by the owners was excellent by northern European standards and simply out of this world by Scottish or English standards. I will certainly stay at Gifford House again.
Everything was exactly as one hopes it always will be but rarely finds. Well done to the owners.
Lovely hotel, the owner was very nice and helpful, recommending places to visit. The room was a good size, very clean. A 20 minute walk from the centre and nice view of Arthur's Seat. Would definitely recommend this hotel!
Nothing bad to say.
Friendly welcome,Shown personally to room.Absolutely immaculate.Very clean.Digital tv and ipod dock were most welcome.Breakfast was superb !! Can't imagine getting a better breakfast anywhere..David & Margaret are an absolute credit to their business !!
Only slight whinge....the bed was a bit short (feet hanging over the end !!) However, everything else was so good,I wouldnt hesitate in going back !!
Nice area, very good breakfast, best owners ever
The staff was helpfull and friendly. Breakfast was ok.
The beds are to small (190 cm) and in à terrible state. Fixed with stuff I feel all night. I missed The b&b feeling. It was more à small hotel. And for that price It was to expensive. It was à De Luxe Room but that was only for The price.
location near town and castle
lacked internet connection
Very friendly, helpful and welcoming to us and our two dogs. Good breakfast and very nice room. All we needed.
very welcoming and helpful
a bit noisy since my room was facing the street
Pleasant staff, comfortable rooms
Street parking available but not that plentiful
room is clean and comfortable, services are great
Hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful. There was a small problem with one room but this was sorted out with minimal fuss to compete satisfaction.Great location, very comfortable hotel and a reasonable price for Edinburgh. Would definitely stay again.
