The rooms were at the best standard of a guess house I've ever visited in Edinburgh. The room we stayed in was immaculately decorated and maintained. Surprised of the high standards of the room. The breakfast room was more or less standard but the little details were immaculate and the attention to detail superb. I can tell these guys that run the place put love and passion in theirs business. It shows.
Just a little comment. There was an iPod dock and alarm clock. It wasn't responding to my small ipod when puggled in and wasn't responding to volume commands. I hope the room next door wasn't cursing me because of the volume of the device.
Gifford House provided us with excellent accomodation and a superb breakfast, all the ingredience of the breakfast was top quality.David and Margaret,s customer service was second to none, nothing was to much trouble. We would recommend this Guest House to anyone wanting a comfortable and pleasurable stay in Edinburgh.
This hotel was brilliant! The bed in our room was the most comfortable and massive we have ever stayed in! The morning breakfast was at a good hour and the service was exemplary. The staff were friendly and helpful, nothing was a bother for them. The location was brilliant; a quick bus ride from the city centre. Taxis didn't cost much either. The decor was lovely too mixing modern with the traditional. No complaints at all!
Perfect b&b not too far from the city centre (about 5 min by bus or 25 min walk) Rooms are huge and clean, breakfast delicious... The owners (Margareth & David) are really nice & helpful... Definitely highly recommended...
This bed and breakfast is well located on a bus route to historic Edinburgh. There were 4 in our party and we took a cap for less than the bus. The rooms and the common areas were very nice and clean. This was a very well restored and maintained upscale older home. Breakfast was well cooked and served. We found the place online from the USA and were very pleased with our choice. Just for the record I have no relationship with the hotel even though my review may look that way. We stayed for two nights. It was a great place to stay.
Friendly helpful owners, good clean accommadation, well presented rooms, good breakfast.
Need to get a bus or taxi into the city although the bus stop is just outside.Cost of bus (numbers 30 or 33) at time of stay £1:20 one way.Taxi into city about £4:40 Bus from airport into city centre £3:50 each way.No real negatives about the accommadation.
David and Margaret were very helpful and freindly great breakfast and lovely room, situated close to Holyrood park and Arthurs seat.City centre is only a few minutes away by bus really enjoyed our stay at this B&B.
Rooms were comfortable and clean. bathroom was adequate .Hosts were very helpful and provided some excellent advice on local restaurants, shops etc . Breakfasts were varied and very good . Location was good , a little out of town but only a short cab or bus ride to city central. Parking was on side street but no problem. Very good value for money. Internet was available free of charge.
Internet connection was a little unreliable in room but not a serious problem and there was a ground floor connection available
Friendly and co-oprative staff
A bit old/ need few renovations
The owners are very welcoming and the accomodation and food is excellent.
Positive points: Kindness of the owners. Very good breakfast. Room was very comfy and nicely decorated. Not so positive point:Bathroom too small.
The owners David and Margaret were wonderful hosts. The room was lovely, the breakfast was great, and Margaret and David could not have been more helpful. We enjoyed our stay at the Gifford house a great deal.
The room was a nice size and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast was nice, and the couple that ran the B&B seemed helpful and friendly. Free Wifi was available.
Parking was difficult as it is situated on a busy road, and the climb up to the room is not for the faint-hearted ( 3 stories up), however I did see the owner helping some older residents with their luggage.
The owners were very friendly and welcoming, the room was a good size and comfortable.
David and Margaret were very kind and attentive. Breakfast was great. The place is quiet and well maintained and serviced.
the toilet was not flushing even after we told the manager
